Who We Are
Local Geotechnics (LG) is a Western Australian-based consultancy specialising in geotechnical, civil, and pavement investigation, testing, and design services, supported by a NATA-accredited soil testing laboratory.
Technical capability backed by local knowledge.
With extensive experience across WA, we have developed a strong understanding of local geology, ground conditions, and construction practices. Our team combines practical industry expertise with strong academic and professional credentials, including PhDs in Geotechnical and Civil Engineering. Our engineers are Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and active members of the Australian Geomechanics Society. We provide services to a diverse client base, including landowners, builders, contractors, architects, engineers, surveyors, educational institutions, local and state government agencies, as well as the resource and mining sectors. At LG, we are committed to delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions within project timeframes, with proven experience across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas of Western Australia.

Dr Harun Meer
Project Director/Design Manager
Qualifications: Ph.D.(Civil), M. Eng. (Civil), B. Eng. (Civil), MIEAust, CPEng, EngExec, NER, APEC Engineer, IntPE(Aust).
Dr Harun Meer brings over 24 years of expertise in civil engineering, spanning both local and international projects. His diverse portfolio includes a range of civil infrastructure projects, such as road upgrades, shared pathways, bus infrastructure, transport hubs, and residential developments. With advanced technical qualifications, including an M.Eng. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Dr Harun is a chartered engineer with specialised experience in site investigations for civil infrastructure design.
For the past 17 years, Dr Harun has worked with Main Roads and various government agencies, delivering projects from concept to construction across multiple regions in WA. His thorough understanding of civil infrastructure needs enables him to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, developing practical solutions. Leveraging an extensive network within government and industry, Dr Harun identifies and addresses issues early, connecting with key contacts to ensure successful project outcomes.
Dr Harun’s approach to project delivery emphasises continuous communication and collaboration, enabling proactive risk management and solution customisation. He is also proficient in civil design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, DRAINS and 12D, which he uses to develop and visualise robust engineering solutions.

Dr. Bushra Shamsad is a skilled and dedicated professional in architecture and urban planning, with extensive experience as a drafter for civil engineering projects. She excels in preparing precise sketches and detailed plans and has a diverse background in civil, interior and landscape design drawings. Bushra specialises in creating comprehensive civil engineering drawings, including geometric plans, longitudinal sections, and cross sections, for large scale detailed design projects.
